With total investment of nearly VND1.5 trillion ($66.04 million), the Dien Bien Phu Airport expansion project in northern Dien Bien province began on January 22 and completion is expected in the third quarter of 2023. The project will contribute to attracting investment in the fields of tourism, trade, and services, promoting the unique cultural values of local ethnic minorities and enhancing connectivity in the northwest region.
Capital demand for the development of Vietnam’s airport network to 2030 stands at some VND400 trillion ($17.55 billion); four times higher than the figure in the last decade. Large airports and logistics centers at eight airports will be prioritized. The vision to 2050 is for Vietnam to have 31 airports, including 14 international and 17 domestic.
South-central province to outlay VND3.8 trillion ($167.1 million) for the Phan Thiet Airport project, which is expected to support regional socio-economic development and investment attraction.
