Seafood export revenue in the first two quarters of 2024 is estimated to reach $4.4 billion, a year-on-year rise of 6%, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
Speaking at the association’s meeting held in HCM City on June 10, its General Secretary Truong Dinh Hoe said with the export value of $3.6 billion the first five months of the year, it is likely for the industry to gain a turnover of $4.4 billion in the first two quarters.
He forecasted that export of seafood would have more advantages in the last two quarters, because difficulties relating to inventory and logistics are expected to reduce from the third quarter, while there will be high demand for seafood to serve year-end celebrations.
Growth has been recorded in most of key products and markets, demonstrating a recovery from 2023, according to Mr. Hoe.
Exports of shrimp, tra fish, crabs and tuna experienced significant year-on-year growth in the first five months with 7%, 4%, 84% and 22%, respectively.
