Da Nang aiming to take lead in developing human resources for the semiconductor industry.
The Semiconductor Da Nang Day 2024 (Semicon Da Nang 2024), the first of its kind in the central city, was launched on August 29.
The two-day event, attracted 500 delegates, aims to promote the city’s potential, advantages, and investment opportunities in semiconductor in a bid to attract domestic and foreign investment resources, especially FDI.
It featured a number of activities such as field surveys of infrastructure and human resources, an exhibition on specific policy mechanisms and technical infrastructure serving the semiconductor industry, and bilateral dialogue between the city leaders and potential partners in the semiconductor industry.
The event also featured two conference sessions, with one session on promoting investment in the city’s semiconductor industry, and the second on connecting supply and demand of semiconductor human resources.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Mr. Le Trung Chinh, Chairman of the city’s People’s Committee, said Semicon Da Nang 2024 was the first of its kind in the city and central Vietnam, marking a new milestone in the city’s development journey.
Since late 2023, Da Nang has quickly seized the opportunity to approach investors, promote the investment environment and opportunities, and deploy human resource training in the semiconductor industry, initially making a splash in the domestic and international semiconductor community, he said.
The world's leading semiconductor enterprises such as Synopsys and Marvell have opened their representative offices in Da Nang. Meanwhile, Nvidia, Qualcom and Intel have already visited Da Nang to learn about investment opportunities and are planning to cooperate in training high-quality human resources in the city, according to Mr. Chinh.
Foxlink Group, one of the leading enterprises in Taiwan (China), has channeled $135 million in the city and is planning to expand its investment scale in the near future.
Aiming to "take the lead, go fast" in developing human resources for the semiconductor industry in Vietnam, Da Nang is looking forward to valuable contributions from domestic and foreign investors, enterprises, and experts in the planning and development orientation, thereby creating an open investment environment with appropriate support mechanisms and investment incentives, and opening up fast and effective investment opportunities for investors in this field, he said.
