Central Thua Thien-Hue province has announced planning for an eco-urban area and coastal resort in Giang Hai and Vinh Hien communes in Phu Loc district, on 717 ha. The district aims to become a central sub-regional town, acting as a center for commerce, services, and tourism and a hub for the trade of goods between coastal areas.

Dong Nai is now undertaking procedures to convert the Bien Hoa 1 Industrial Park into the Bien Hoa 1 urban, commercial, and service area by the end of 2025.

With construction recently getting underway, the MT Eastmark City complex will become a new high-end urban area in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City’s Thu Duc City once completed in the third quarter of 2024. Including seven commercial apartment towers and three social housing areas providing nearly 2,600 diversified products such as apartments, office space, and shops, the complex will be a “bright” spot in the exciting development of Thu Duc City.

The Hanoi People’s Committee has approved the outline of the “Surveying and assessing the current situation and proposing solutions to strengthen the management and operations of urban areas after investment” project. The capital currently has more than 350 urban areas on a total area of about 2,500 ha.

Vietnam has identified the trend towards urbanization and smart city development as the right direction for the future, a workshop has heard.

There are to be ten urban areas along Metro Line No.1 in Ho Chi Minh City, which will be densely populated and have synchronized technology and social infrastructure. Their total area will be over 577 ha.

Bac Lieu city in the Mekong Delta province of the same name is calling for investment in a “New Urban Area” project, with total investment of VND1.451 trillion ($63.7 million) on a total area of 49.29 ha and with an expected population of 9,000 people.

A central coastal urban development project was approved by the government on August 11. It consists of two components, to be implemented over four years with total investment of €42.23 million ($49.70 million), with a French Development Agency (AFD) loan of €33.8 million ($39.67 million), a non-refundable ODA loan of €1.36 million ($1.59 million), and counterpart funding of $8.3 million.

The Department of Planning and Investment in north-central Nghe An province is inviting investors to implement the Bac Nghi Kim urban area and Nghi Kim residential area projects in the provincial capital Vinh. The goal is to build a new urban area on a total area of nearly 18 ha in the city with a total construction cost of about VND1.2 trillion ($52.27 million). Investment categories include a social housing area, a supermarket, a service area, public works, garden villas, and adjacent houses.
