Three Vietnamese hotels voted among world's best
Vietnam continues to receive accolades for its hotels, with US magazine Travel+Leisure naming three on its list of Readers’ 100 Favorite Hotels in the World for 2023.
Capella Hanoi, Regent Phu Quoc, and The Reverie Saigon have been named in the Travel+Leisure Readers’ 100 Favorite Hotels in the World for 2023.
Located on Le Phung Hieu Street in Hanoi’s Old Quarter, Capella Hanoi was ranked 18th for the second year in a row.
According to Travel+Leisure, the 47-key hotel was designed to invoke the glamour of the historic Hanoi Opera House just a few blocks away. Its restaurant, Backstage, serves classic northern Vietnamese fare in a red-velveted space straight out of the 1920s.
Regent Phu Quoc, which opened on Vietnam’s “Pearl Island” in April last year, took 19th place on the list. Designed by the BLINK Design Group, Regent Phu Quoc boasts 176 suites and 126 villas evoking traditional Vietnamese design with contemporary décor and a soothing color palette.
“It’s definitely ultra-luxury,” wrote one Travel+Leisure reader, citing the Regent’s luxury catamaran, which is available for sunset cruises or private charter.
The Reverie Saigon, situated on Ho Chi Minh City’s vehicle-free pedestrian mall, Nguyen Hue, was in 35th place on the list.
“Jaw-droppingly colorful and flamboyant, like a kaleidoscope of art and luxury,” wrote one survey respondent. According to Travel+Leisure, The Reverie Saigon was a game-changer for Vietnam’s southern city when it opened in 2015. The hotel has 286 rooms and suites plus 89 full-service residences.
In this year’s survey, hotels from five continents were rated based on criteria such as rooms and facilities, location, service, food, and value. Nearly 165,000 Travel+Leisure readers completed the 2023 survey, an increase of nearly 25 per cent over pre-pandemic voting levels. A total of more than 685,000 votes were cast on over 8,500 unique properties.
Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul at Sultanahmet in Turkey topped this year’s list, followed by The Bushcamp Company’s Mfuwe Lodge in Zambia and Andaz Bali in Indonesia.
