Two new Deputy PMs  and 4 ministers appointed

Former Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung and Former Head of the Party Central Committee’s Mass Mobilization Commission  Mai Van Chinh have become new Deputy Prime Ministers.

President Luong Cuong on February 18 handed over the presidential decisions appointing two deputy prime ministers and four ministers serving the 2021-2026 term.

Accordingly, former Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung and former Head of the Party Central Committee’s Mass Mobilization Commission Mai Van Chinh  have been appointed as Deputy PMs; while Tran Hong Minh, former Minister of Transport,  as Minister of Construction; former Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung as Minister of Science and Technology; former Minister of National Resources and Environment Do Duc Duy as Minister of Agriculture and Environment; and former Minister of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs  Dao Ngoc Dung as Minister of Ethnic and Religious Affairs.

Earlier on the same day, the 15th National Assembly, at its 9th irregular session, approved the appointment of the new deputy prime ministers and ministers.

The legislators on the same day also casted votes to elect former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan and Chairman of the National Assembly Economic Committee Vu Hong Thanh as new Vice Chairmen of the National Assembly.

The above moves by the legislative body are part of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee's plan to rearrange and streamline the apparatus of the political system.
