Vietnam-Sri Lanka direct flights proposed

The Sri Lankan President expressed hope for increased Vietnamese investment in Sri Lanka, particularly in agriculture, education, religion, culture, tourism, and aviation.

As part of his activities at the World Government Summit 2025 (WGS 2025),  held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on February 11-12, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son met with Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

During their meeting, Deputy PM Son proposed the establishment of a direct flight route between the two countries to foster tourism, people-to-people exchanges, and economic and trade ties.

President Dissanayake affirmed the significant potential for economic cooperation between the two countries. He emphasized the need for both nations to diversify their traded goods and continue promoting bilateral cooperation in trade and investment.

The President expressed hope for increased Vietnamese investment in Sri Lanka, particularly in agriculture, education, culture, tourism, and aviation, among other fields.

Deputy PM Son reiterated Vietnam's commitment to strengthening its friendly and cooperative relationship with Sri Lanka, aiming to deepen and enhance bilateral ties.

"Vietnam is always ready to share its development experiences with Sri Lanka. We request that Sri Lanka create favorable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to strengthen trade and investment cooperation in Sri Lanka, especially in exporting goods where Vietnam has strengths and that Sri Lanka needs, such as food, household appliances, electronics, and machinery," emphasized Deputy PM Son.
