Despite the economic fluctuations, Vietnamese travelers are quite excited about their summer holiday, a recent report from a local market intelligence company reveals.

Vietnamese tourists are unfazed by the economic situation and are greatly excited about their summer vacation, according to the Summer Travel Intent of Vietnamese Tourists report recently published by local market intelligence company The Outbox.

According to data from the report, more than three-quarters of respondents said they were not concerned (26.9 per cent) or felt comfortable (49.9 per cent) with the economic impact, while only 23.7 per cent declared that the economic impact affects their desire to travel in the summer.

Domestic destinations are the most popular choice, with 56.6 per cent of respondents planning to travel around the country this summer. Some 6.4 per cent will head to other destinations in Asia, while only 7.1 per cent plan to travel to other continents.

Regarding types of tourism, Nature & outdoors (20.9 per cent), Culinary / Food & wine (21.2 per cent), and Coasts & seas (18 per cent) are the most preferred.

The report also found that the level of intent about taking a trip is directly proportional to incomes. The rate of interest in travel among people on monthly incomes of less than VND15 million ($631), VND15-45 million ($631-$1.893), and more than VND45 million ($1.893) were 49.3 per cent, 62.5 per cent, and 71.1 per cent, respectively.

There is a strong correlation between travel intent and destination, the report revealed. Tourists who travel to faraway destinations are less likely to have begun preparing for the trip than those who heading nearby.
