Action plan approved to develop tourism system

Tourism projected to contribute 13-14% to the country's GDP by 2030.

Under a Prime Ministerial Decision, signed recently by Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long, an action plan to implement the master plan on tourism system for 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2050, has been approved.

The plan identifies specific progress and resources to implement tasks and measures as outlined by the master plan.

Focus will be made on investment in infrastructure for tourism sites, particularly national tourism sties. The plan will encourage the private sector to invest in developing tourism infrastructure, products and services.

Other activities include promoting the building of national tourism brands for special tourism products, improving the quality of tourism human resources as well as boosting tourism promotion activities both inside and outside the country.

Under the master plan on tourism system, the Government targets to attract 25-28 million foreign arrivals by 2025 and 35 million by 2030.

Total tourism revenue is expected at VND1.264 trillion ($49 million) this year and over VND2.6 trillion ($101 million) by 2030. Tourism is projected to directly contribute 8-9% and 13-14% to the country's GDP by 2025 and 2030, respectively.
