Ba Ria - Vung Tau province proposes adding interchange to Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway project
The interchange is expected to help unlock land potential, serving as critical infrastructure to promote industrial and urban development in the southern province.
The People’s Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province has just sent an official proposal to the Prime Minister for an additional investment for constructing an interchange between the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway and the My Xuan - Ngai Giao - Hoa Binh Road (DT.991).
Accordingly, the Committee proposed the Prime Minister to include this interchange in the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway Project (phase 1). This will be a complete multi-level interchange with a total estimated investment of VND1.58 trillion ($63.74 million), of which compensation and land clearance costs account for approximately VND813 billion ($33.53 million).
Under the master plan for the development of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, the DT.991 road plays a role as a hub connecting several key roads in the region, such as National Highway No.51, National Highway No.56, the Cai Mep - Thi Vai inter-port road, Phuoc An Bridge, and other provincial roads, as well as linking with Binh Thuan province. The DT.991 road is expected to be expanded to at least 8 lanes by 2050.
Once this interchange is completed, it will facilitate smooth transportation of goods and passengers between the Cai Mep - Thi Vai inter-port system, industrial zones in Phu My town, Chau Duc District, Long Thanh Airport, Ho Chi Minh City, and Dong Nai and Binh Thuan provinces, thus contributing to stronger economic connectivity and social development in the Southern Key Economic Region.
At the same time, the interchange will help unlock land potential, serving as critical infrastructure to promote industrial and urban development in Phu My town and Chau Duc district of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, according to the development orientation approved by the Prime Minister.
If approved, the project will commence between 2025-2026.
The People’s Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau has committed to reviewing and balancing funds in its medium-term public investment plan for compensation and land clearance costs for the interchange project.
