Bien Hoa airport upgraded to serve 5 mln passengers annually

The Ministry of Transport has given the green light to the planning for the Bien Hoa airport upgrade project in southern Dong Nai province for the 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2050.

The airport is planned to upgrade into a dual-use facility with an estimated capacity to serve 5 million passengers per year.

The existing Bien Hoa airfield covers approximately 967 hectares, with the potential to allocate about 50 hectares for civil aviation use.

Bien Hoa Airport is approximately 30 km from Tan Son Nhat Airport in HCM City and 32 km from Long Thanh International Airport, which is under construction in Dong Nai.

Upon completion, Dong Nai will become the first locality in Vietnam to operate two commercial airports – the Long Thanh International Airport and the dual-use Bien Hoa Airport.
