Construction of 12 components of North-South Expressway begins
Projects cover a total length of 723.7 km, with total investment estimated at $6.23 billion.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh oversaw a breaking ground ceremony for 12 component projects in the second phase of the North-South Expressway in central Quang Ngai province on January 1.
The projects cover a total length of 723.7 km, in which the Ha Tinh - Quang Tri section is 260.9 km, the Quang Ngai - Nha Trang section 352.1 km, and Can Tho - Ca Mau 110.9 km.
Preliminary total investment is nearly VND147 trillion ($6.23 billion).
The Prime Minister asked the Ministry of Transport (MoT) to guide all stakeholders on ensuring the safety and quality of works, with the highest sense of responsibility.
Ministries, centrally-run agencies, and authorities in 32 cities and provinces must work closely with the MoT to tackle any difficulties and complete the projects on schedule.
The projects are expected to be completed in 2025 and put into operation in 2026.
Vietnam targets completing 3,000 km of expressways by 2025.
