Hanoi-Thai Nguyen expressway to be expanded to six lanes
The 66-km segment between Hanoi and Thai Nguyen is part of the 227-km expressway running through Hanoi, Thai Nguyen, Bac Kan and Cao Bang.

The Ministry of Transport has approved northern Thai Nguyen province’s proposal to expand the expressway connecting with Hanoi from 4 to 6 lanes.
It is part of the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen - Bac Kan - Cao Bang expressway, which spans 227 km from Hanoi to Cao Bang, including the 66-km Hanoi - Thai Nguyen segment.
The upgrade is aimed at meeting transport demand and supporting socio-economic development of Thai Nguyen and the northern mountainous region.
The project is part of Vietnam’s broader road network development strategy for 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.
The transport ministry said it will study, review and report to authorized agencies to ask for license to implement the project in the coming time.
