Largest railway station in southern region to receive upgrade
Station in Binh Duong province to be capable of handling 3.5 million tons of cargo annually after work is completed.
The Song Than railway station in southern Binh Duong province will be upgraded to handle 3.5 million tons of cargo each year in the 2025-2030 period, according to its management board.
Total capital for the upgrade is estimated at VND188 billion ($7.67 million).
Song Than railway station is the largest of its kind in the southern region, while Binh Duong province is located within the southern key economic zone and is among the most dynamic localities in the region.
The Vietnam Railways Corporation set off the first international freight transport train in the Year of the Dragon from Song Than station on February 21, heading to Zhengzhou in China’s Henan province.
Carrying Vietnamese farm produce, the train is scheduled to arrive in Zhengzhou after nine or ten days, and there will be one such train trip conducted each week.
