Priority given to traffic projects in Long An

Three projects in the Mekong Delta province need investment of some $526 million.

The Ministry of Transport is working with relevant ministries and sectors to prioritize three transport projects in the Mekong Delta’s Long An province, with investment estimated at VND12.5 trillion ($526 million).

The three projects include one upgrading a 77-km stretch of National Highway No. 62, with total investment of some VND2 trillion ($82 million). This is on a list of projects eligible for State budget support for sustainable development in the Mekong Delta region and is expected to be implemented in the 2024-2027 period.

Another is Ho Chi Minh City’s Ring Road No. 3, as it passes through Long An province. About VND8.3 trillion ($350 million) is projected for the 7km-long section.

Ring Road No. 3 is a key national transport project, running for 76 km around Ho Chi Minh City through the provinces of Long An, Dong Nai, and Binh Duong, and is expected to cost more than VND$75 trillion ($3.1 billion) in eight component projects.

The ring road is projected to be open in 2026.

The third project is the Chon Thanh - Duc Hoa section of the Ho Chi Minh Highway in Long An, running 21 km and with investment of about VND2.17 trillion ($93 million). It is expected to be completed in 2025.
