The Ministry of Transport aims to connect the entire Eastern North-South Expressway and the entire Ho Chi Minh Highway from Cao Bang to Ca Mau in 2025.

Simultaneously, major road projects and strategic railway lines are set to accelerate their progress toward completion.

In 2024, the ministry was allocated approximately VND75.48 trillion ($2.96 billion) of public investment capital. It is projected that by the end of 2024, the ministry would disburse about VND60.2 trillion ($2.36 billion), achieving 80% of the plan, and striving to reach 95% by the end of the fiscal year.

The overall goal set for 2025 is to complete 12 component projects of the Eastern North-South Expressway, passing through the provinces of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, and the Mekong Delta provinces, to connect the entire expressway.

Additionally, the ministry will collaborate with localities to complete several projects to achieve the goal of putting 3,000 km of expressways into operation by the end of 2025.

Concurrently, nearly 170 km of the Ho Chi Minh Highway will be completed to connect the entire route from the northern mountainous province of Cao Bang to the southernmost province of Ca Mau. Meanwhile, the Long Thanh International Airport project (phase 1) is also expected to complete by the end of the year.

This year, the ministry will also commence a series of projects such as upgrading and expanding the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong - My Thuan Expressway, Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh Expressway, Cam Lo - La Son Expressway, La Son - Tuy Loan Expressway, Cho Moi - Bac Kan Expressway, and My An - Cao Lanh Expressway (phase 1).
