US-based SpaceX company expresses desire to invest in Vietnam
During a meeting with the company's leader on September 6, PM Pham Minh Chinh appreciated its cooperation and investment proposals.
The US-based provider of spacecraft, satellite launch services, and satellite communications SpaceX has desire to invest and provide Starlink satellite internet services in Vietnam, according to its Senior Vice President for Global Business and Government Affairs Tim Hughes.
During a meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Hanoi on September 6, Mr. Hughes proposed Vietnam to prepare necessary infrastructure and conditions to maximize the project's effectiveness, helping to provide Internet coverage to 100% of the population.
He spoke highly of the investment environment of Vietnam.
PM Chinh appreciated the group’s cooperation and investment proposals and stressed that Vietnam has necessary infrastructure, mechanisms, and policies to enable companies, including SpaceX, to invest and do business effectively in the country.
The Government leader suggested SpaceX to boost cooperation in areas where SpaceX has strengths and Vietnam has potential such as science-technology, innovation, artificial intelligence, and Internet of Things.
He asked SpaceX to support Vietnam through transfer technology, human resources training and administration experience sharing as well as expand partnership with Vietnamese businesses, focusing on increasing the content of high, digital, and green technologies, developing supporting industries, and providing secondary services to help Vietnam integrate more deeply into the global value chains.
