Vietnam targets 10 new submarine cable lines by 2030
90% of the bandwidth of submarine cable lines to be linked to four digital hubs in Asia.
Vietnam targets to operate at least 10 new submarine optical cable lines with modern technology by 2030 under the country’s international optical cable development strategy until 2030, with a vision to 2035, which has been approved by the Ministry of Information and Communications.
At least two of these will be owned by Vietnam, directly connecting to regional digital hubs.
It will bring the total number of submarine optical cable lines in Vietnam to 15 with a minimum capacity of 350 Tbps.
At least two more international terrestrial optical cable lines will be operational by 2030, ensuring that the total capacity of international terrestrial optical cables makes up at least 15% of the submarine optical cable system's capacity.
As much as 90% of the bandwidth of submarine cable lines will be linked to four digital hubs in Asia and 10% to two digital hubs in the Americas and Europe.
