$14.5 mln wood pellet plant to be built in Quang Tri province

Under a recent decision of the People’s Committee of the central province of Quang Tri, the investment policy and investor for the Wood Pellet Fuel Production Plant project has been approved.

The projected plant is located in Hai Chanh Industrial Cluster,  Hai Chanh Commune, Hai Lang District.

The project will be developed by Planted Forest Biomass Quang Tri Joint Stock Company, with a total investment of VND379 billion ($14.5 million).

Covering an area of approximately 33,100 sq.m, the plant is designed with an annual production capacity of 192,000 tons of wood pellets—a type of biofuel widely used in heating systems, industrial boilers, and particularly for export to markets such as Europe, Japan, and South Korea, which are actively pursuing renewable energy transitions.

Construction is scheduled to begin in October 2025, with full completion and operation expected by September 2026.

Of the total investment, VND75.8 billion ($2.9 million) will come from the investor’s own capital, while the remaining will be mobilized from other legal sources.
