Expansion of HCM City - Long Thanh expressway scheduled to start in August
The expressway will be expanded from four lanes to 8-10 lanes as an urgent construction project.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has approved a proposal for expansion of the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh expressway from current 4 lanes to 8-10 lanes.
The proposed project spans nearly 22 km in length, with a preliminary estimated investment of over VND15.337 trillion ($583 million). Funding is expected to come from the Central budget.
As an urgent construction project as classified by the Government, the project could see its timeline significantly shortened.
Construction is scheduled to start on August 19 this year and is expected for completion by 2026.
Since the Ho Chi Minh City–Long Thanh Expressway was opened to traffic, vehicle volume has continuously increased, reaching the full capacity of four lanes. Therefore, expanding this expressway is both necessary and urgent, especially to synchronize with the Long Thanh International Airport which is scheduled to be put into operation early next year.
