Trade in the agriculture, forestry, and fishery sector reached $31.8 billion in the first four months of the year, up 7 per cent year-on-year. Exports were $17.9 billion, up 15.6 per cent, while imports were $13.9 billion, down 2.3 per cent. The sector therefore posted a surplus of nearly $4 billion, or 3.2 times higher than in the same period last year.
Agricultural production in February faced many difficulties, with high gasoline prices resulting in fishers cutting their trips out to sea and the war in Ukraine pushing up fertilizer prices. In the first two months of the year, however, exports of agriculture, forestry, and fishery products posted impressive results. Seafood exports reached $1.53 billion, up 36 per cent year-on-year, and wood and wooden product exports set a new record of nearly $3 billion, up 12.8 per cent.

The “Agriculture with high technology 3” project in Can Tho city, with total capital of more than VND3.583 billion ($157.04 million) from the T&T Group Joint Stock Company, has been revoked after the investor decided to terminate the project.
