Having identified tourism as a key economic sector and one of three pillars of development, central Da Nang city has issued a plan to restore tourism activities and welcome inter-regional and international visitors from November.

After a long period of being “frozen”, some localities have begun welcoming tourists from both inside and outside of the city or province. But difficulties remain, as most tourists will only travel once safety is ensured and it is more convenient.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has proposed a plan for reopening international tourism in three stages starting from November. By the third stage, in the second quarter of 2022, Vietnam’s tourism sector will have completely reopened to international visitors. Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam has requested that tourism be reopened quickly but insisted that safety be ensured.

Investors expect the coastal real estate market to recover soon as coastal cities and provinces re-open to tourists. Figures show that more than 70 per cent of tourists prefer a holiday on the coast. Nha Trang city is a popular destination for investors in coastal real estate.

A pilot program welcoming international tourists to Phu Quoc Island has been postponed until the end of November or early December, when foreign tourists travel the most. All of Phu Quoc’s population will be vaccinated from September 24 to 27.

With the government approving a suggestion to welcome tourists holding vaccine passports, Phu Quoc Island will become a model for resuming tourism activities based on the measure, which other localities will be able to learn from.

The Ha Tinh Provincial People’s Committee has issued Document No. 4874/UBND-KT1 on the implementation of a tourism, sports, and resort project on 50.35 ha at the Vung Ang Economic Zone, with total investment of VND330 billion ($14.36 million). The project consists of eight subdivisions meeting the diverse needs of visitors, such as food, resort, sports, and entertainment areas.

Travel services in some coastal provinces will be operated as Covid-19 prevention measures taken.
