The Hanoi People's Committee has come to an agreement on a planed  transport route connecting Hanoi center to the projected Gia Binh airport in the neighboring province of Bac Ninh (the Hanoi - Bac Ninh route), according a document released recently by the Committee's Office.

The document announced conclusions by Vice-Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan on a plan for construction of the Hanoi - Bac Ninh route within Hanoi's territory.

The proposed Hanoi - Bac Ninh route will span a total length of 49.52 km, with 28.58 km running through the capital city. The section through Hanoi will include 8.06 km of a new road and a 20.54-km segment overlapping with the Hanoi-Thai Nguyen Expressway and Ring Road 3, as well as the projected Tu Lien Bridge.

Hanoi and Bac Ninh have agreed that the projected Hanoi - Bac Ninh route will have a cross-sectional width of 100-120m. Additionally, urban space development along both sides of the projected road will be studied further, extending 300-400 m from the route.

Notably, the two localities have also agreed to propose a study for an urban railway line along the route.

Previously, the Prime Minister had accepted the Ministry of Transport's proposal for including the Gia Binh airport in the adjusted master plan for the development of the national airport system for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.
