On November 4, during his official visit to France, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the Vietnam - France Businesses Forum and witnessed the exchange of 29 MoUs between Vietnamese and French or European partners. He called on French businesses to invest more into Vietnam in a spirit of “win-win”, especially in sustainable development, emissions reduction, green transformation, and digital transformation.

Demand in New Zealand for consumer goods such as textiles, footwear, bags, furniture, and consumer electronics is significant and presents an opportunity for Vietnamese exporters. New Zealand’s imports of industrial products from Vietnam increased sharply in the first half of 2021, by over 70 per cent year-on-year.

Vietnam has five higher education institutions in the Times Higher Education’s World University Rankings for emerging economies in 2022, two more than in 2021. Of note, Ton Duc Thang University is in the top 100, at 82nd.

The US’s AMI AC Renewables will implement a pilot project to develop a $3-million battery energy storage system in south-central Khanh Hoa province. The project will demonstrate how the US’s leading energy storage technology can help Vietnam achieve its renewable energy development goals and reduce its dependence on coal.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that a shipment including 2,021,360 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine provided to Vietnam by the Italian Government via the COVAX mechanism arrived in Hanoi on October 15. Italy has so far donated a total of more than 2.8 million doses of vaccine to support Vietnam’s vaccination campaign.

The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has proposed that the government allow insurance companies to pilot the offering of Covid-19 insurance packages for Vietnamese working in South Korea under the EPS (Employment Permit System) for foreign workers in the country.

In a recorded speech at the 4th Russian Energy Week taking place in Moscow from October 13-15, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam will continue to improve institutions, policies, and laws to support the development of its energy sector.
