Around 200 Japanese enterprises attended a conference in north-central Thanh Hoa province on May 6 to mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations.
The conference will strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries and between Japanese investors and Thanh Hoa.
It was also an occasion for Japanese businesses to seek investment and cooperation opportunities, according to Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Do Trong Hung.
To attract Japanese investors, Thanh Hoa has established a Japan Desk to boost investment, trade, and tourism and to support Japanese businesses and investors wishing to explore opportunities in the province, he told the meeting.
Thanh Hoa wishes to enhance comprehensive cooperation with Japanese partners in smart city development, e-government, education, healthcare, human resources development, and the labor market.
It will continue to improve the local business environment by stepping up administrative reform and ensuring security and social safety and order, he said.
With 17 projects and capital of about $6.6 billion, or 45.7 per cent of total FDI in the province, Japan is now the largest foreign investor in Thanh Hoa.
