Citi named among top 50 outstanding FIEs in Vietnam

Citi was among the winners at the 21st Golden Dragon Awards held jointly by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and Vietnam Economic Times on April 8 in Ho Chi Minh City.
Winners included the top 10 foreign-invested enterprises (FIEs) in green growth and the top 50 outstanding FIEs in Vietnam in 2021.
They were recognized as pioneers in innovation and supporting the transition to a greener economy.
Citi has been supporting Vietnam’s climate goals by driving capital to where it can have a positive impact and working with clients to transition to a net-zero economy.
Mr. Ramachandran A.S., Vietnam Citi Country Officer, said Citi provides and facilitates a wide array of environmental solutions. “We have been financing the importation of wind turbines and are set to provide a green loan to a multinational company,” he added. “Citi is also working with the Asian Development Bank on the Energy Transition Mechanism - an innovative financing initiative launched at COP26 designed to crowd-in private funding - for which Vietnam is one of the target markets.”
The winners also have policies and plans regarding proactively responding to Covid-19 and ensuring the rights and health of their employees. Citi Vietnam donated an estimated $50,000 in the form of medical equipment to Thong Nhat Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City last year to accelerate the fight against Covid-19. The equipment comprised 14 ICU beds, to be used in intensive care units (ICUs) offering critical care to patients who require close and constant monitoring.
Citi Vietnam also contributed an estimated $25,000 in the form of medical equipment to the Dong Da district health center in Hanoi, to accelerate the rollout of Covid-19 vaccinations. This comprised six vaccine refrigerators, designed specifically to meet the demanding temperature requirements for vaccine storage, together with 23 vaccine carriers to keep the vaccines cold during transportation.
The Golden Dragon Awards have been hosted by Vietnam Economic Times since 2001 and recognize the outstanding contributions made by FIEs to Vietnam’s economy. Organizers received more than 600 nominations and registrations for this year’s awards. Through two rounds of survey and selection, the awards honored the top 50 outstanding FIEs in six industry groups.
