Japanese PM: Vietnam rising in global supply chain

Speaking at the Vietnam - Japan cooperation seminar on technology innovation, digital transformation, and supply chain diversification on May 1, Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio, who visited Vietnam from April 30 to May 1, said that Vietnam holds an increasingly important position in the global supply chain. Out of a total of 92 projects to diversify supply chains supported by Japan in ASEAN, Vietnam ranks first with 39 projects. He also emphasized that the possibility of cooperation between Vietnam and Japan is unlimited.

Vietnam reaches agreement on vaccine passports with 17 countries and territories

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang, as of March 17, Vietnam had reached agreement on the mutual recognition of vaccine passports with 17 countries and territories, including the US, the UK, Northern Ireland, Japan, Australia, Belarus, and India. It is still temporarily recognizing vaccination certificate samples from 79 countries and territories.

Vietnam to continue focus on exemptions and reductions of taxes, fees, and charges

On March 16, speaking at the APEC Finance and Central Bank Deputies’ Meeting 2022, Permanent Deputy Minister of Finance Tran Xuan Ha said that Vietnam’s fiscal and monetary policy will continue to focus on exemptions and reductions of taxes, fees, and charges, extensions to tax payment deadlines, interest rate support, debt rescheduling, preferential loans, and jobs support. At the same time, the country will allocate capital for infrastructure investment and improve its business and investment environment.

The World Health Organization (WHO) announced on February 23 that Vietnam, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Serbia will receive mRNA technology from its mRNA technology transfer center.
