Vietnam's digital economy is experiencing rapid growth, contributing an estimated proportion of 18.3% to the nation's GDP in 2024—a 20% increase from 2023.

The Government has set an ambitious target for the digital economy to account for 20.5% of GDP in 2025, with total revenue projected to reach $52 billion, a 30% jump from the estimated $40 billion in 2024. The Government also aims to have 50% of the adult population using digital signatures by 2025.

To achieve these goals, Vietnam will continue implementing the National Action Program for Digital Economic Development for 2024-2025, as outlined in the Prime Minister's Decision No 1437/QD-TTg. The program prioritizes five key sectors: wholesale and retail trade, processing and manufacturing, agriculture, tourism, and logistics.

According to a recent report by the Ministry of Information and Communications, some Vietnamese apps boast over 10 million users each, such as Zalo, Zing MP3, MoMo, Bao Moi, VnEID, MB Bank, Vietcombank, and My Viettel.

Additionally, over ten more locally developed apps have between 5 and 10 million active users.

In 2024, Vietnamese digital platforms accounted for 25.25% of monthly active users (MAU) on mobile applications, compared to foreign platforms.
