While the majority of economists support the need to tax houses and landed property as soon as possible, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) has said there is currently no policy to develop a draft law on taxing property. In 2018, the ministry proposed developing a Law on Property Tax, but encountered many conflicting opinions.

In an official statement released on September 17, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) said that information about the budget facing difficulties and the central budget being almost nonexistent are misleading.

The Ministry of Finance has proposed reductions of 50 per cent to certain fees in the field of atomic energy. It has also reduced 30 other fees and charges to the end of the year, totaling some VND2 trillion ($87.85 million).

The government has proposed the continuation of exemptions and reductions on taxes, late tax payment fees, and land rentals payable in 2020 and 2021, which would lower State budget revenue by VND21.3 trillion ($934.35 million).

The government has agreed with a proposal from the Ministry of Finance (MoF) to supplement support measures for people and businesses affected by Covid-19.

The trading system at the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) has continually encountered “order congestion” since the end of 2020 as liquidity rises sharply. The Ministry of Finance (MoF) has requested an increase in the trading lot size to a minimum of ten shares and support for businesses to switch listings from the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) to HoSE.
