Can Tho unveils 2021-2030 development planning
Mekong Delta city to be divided into three development regions.

Can Tho city in the Mekong Delta has unveiled its planning for 2021-2030 and vision to 2050, in which it targets becoming a smart city and an attractive destination for high-quality services and consumption.
At a meeting held recently to review the planning, Vice Chairman of the Can Tho City People’s Committee Duong Tan Hien said the city will focus on developing the advantages the Mekong Delta region holds based on high technology, green economy, sustainability, and climate change adaptation.
Industry will play a key role, with a focus on promoting the strengths of light industry, diversifying new industries, and optimizing potential to attract foreign investment into promising fields such as pharmaceuticals, energy, electronic components, tourism, and logistics.
Regarding infrastructure, Can Tho will enhance transport links with the building of expressways, highways, and inter-provincial roads, together with developing inland waterways and seaports.
It targets developing two economic centers in the north and the south of the city and three development regions. The city will be divided into three regions under the planning to maximize advantages and natural conditions for development.
