ACV rushes procedures for Long Thanh Airport's third runway investment

Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) is urgently implementing the necessary procedures for the Government to report to the National Assembly for consideration and approval of the investment policy for the third runway and related components at Long Thanh International Airport, which is under construction in southern Dong Nai province.

Previously, according to Official Dispatch No. 416/TB-VPCP, released on August 12 by the Office of the Government, on Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's conclusions during an inspection of the progress of Phase 1 of the Long Thanh Airport Project, the Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Construction and ACV to research and propose the implementation of the third runway of the airport project, reporting to the Prime Minister in August 2025.

According to the Prime Minister's Decision 1777/QD-TTg dated November 11, 2020, Phase 1 of the Long Thanh Airport project only involved investing in one runway, one passenger terminal, and auxiliary facilities, with a design capacity of 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tons of cargo per year.

By the end of March 2025, the Prime Minister had approved the adjustment and addition of another runway within Phase 1, indicating that the project's scale will be continuously expanded to anticipate the high demand for air transport.
