The central province needs to proactively review and adjust related plans to develop the "four-in-one" airport city, comprising urban development, industry, high-tech science, and services, with Quang Tri Airport as its center.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh
has instructed Quang Tri province in central Vietnam to accelerate the progress of key
infrastructure projects such as the airport, seaport, and the
"four-in-one" airport city, seen as new drivers for socio-economic
development in the locality and the north central region.
Regarding the Quang Tri Airport project, the PM assigned the
Ministry of Construction to consider a proposal from the Provincial People's
Committee to upgrade the project's scale to a higher level, meeting long-term
development needs.
Concurrently, he requested the province to direct investors and
relevant units to accelerate progress, striving to complete the project early.
At the same time, the locality needs to proactively review and adjust related
plans within the area between the Ben Hai river and Thach Han river to develop
the "four-in-one" airport city, comprising urban development,
industry, high-tech science, and services, with Quang Tri Airport as its center.
The construction of Quang Tri Airport commenced on July 6, 2024, with a
scale of over 265 ha and a total investment of over VND5.8 trillion (nearly
$219 million). Once operational, the airport is expected to serve 5 million
passengers and 25,500 tons of cargo per year, promising significant socio-economic
benefits for the locality and the region.
In addition to the airport project, the Prime
Minister also requested the province to coordinate and accelerate the
construction of Passenger Terminal T2 and the expansion of Dong Hoi airport's aircraft parking
apron. This project must ensure quality, technical
standards, aesthetics, and safety, aiming for completion on schedule by April
30, 2026.
Dong Hoi airport is located in the former province of Quang Binh which has become part of Quang Tri province since July 1, 2025.
Regarding the My Thuy Port Cluster, the PM assigned the Provincial
People's Committee to direct investors and implementing agencies to ensure
project progress, striving to complete Berth No. 1 by November 2025 and Berth
No. 2 by March 2026. Simultaneously, they are urged to promptly finalize
procedures to commence construction of Berths No. 3 and No. 4.
